At Thrive Yoga, we believe it’s never too late to move with ease, breathe with intention, and feel strong in your body. Located in the heart of Lake Macquarie, we specialise in yoga and wellness programs designed especially for seniors and those seeking gentle, supportive movement. Our classes focus on breath aligned with movement, a safe, step-by-step practice called "vinyasa krama" to improve mobility and stability. We aim to keep progressing your practice for strength & vitality by building confidence through mindful movement. We incorporate breathwork or "pranayama" for relaxation & stress relief. This is introduced through guided breathing and meditation to calm the mind. We are in partnership with Watagan Squash and Wellness Centre to enhance community & connection by providing a welcoming space where friendships grow alongside wellness. Whether you’re new to yoga or returning after many years, Thrive Yoga offers a nurturing environment where every session is adapted to your needs. Our mission is simple: to help you move better, feel better, and live well at every stage of life. Group Classes
Casual

Focus: Safety, and confidence. These classes are part of the term classes.

Poses: Straight spine forward and backbends in standing or seated postures, gentle twists and asymmetrical bends, gentle inversions, and laying down.

Breathwork: Part of pranayama (breath awareness program for the term class, four-point yogic breath, and ujjayi breath).

Pace: Gentle to moderate, with detailed breathing cues to align with movement, counterposes and pauses.

Props: Chairs, bolsters, blankets are used to support mobility, cushion the knees, and provide comfort. We practice ahimsa (no harm) in yoga.

Goal: Build breath and body awareness, flexibility, and safe movement towards balance, strength and resilience.

Example class: Breath focus, Vinyasa flows .

Term classes

Focus: Strength, stamina, and flow built up over 5 weekly sessions.

Poses: Classical sequences (Warrior I, II & III, Bow, Eagle, Dancer's Pose) for deeper hip and chest opening, single leg balance and stability.

Breathwork: Coordinating breath with movement (Vinyasa flow), exploring alternate nostril breathing.

Pace: Moderate to dynamic, with smooth transitions between poses.

Props: Used less frequently, more emphasis on self-support and balance.

Goal: Expand flexibility, build strength, and develop mindfulness in motion.

Example Class: Vinyasa Flow, incorporating sun salutation and moon salutation flows, and other themed sequences.
One-on-One
A private yoga session is a customised practice designed specifically for an individual. Unlike group classes, where the teacher balances many students’ needs, a one-on-one session allows the yogi to focus entirely on your body, breath, and goals. This format is ideal for beginners seeking confidence, experienced practitioners refining technique, or anyone working with specific health or mobility concerns.
